“INTERIOR DESIGN FOR THE WILDERNESS”
Bare Bones Studio specializes in Interior Design for homes, lodges and rustic retreats
My rustic approach to interior design was conceived out of my love for the outdoors, the solitude of Northern Minnesota, nature, and admiration for the Great Camp architectural style.
In the early 90's I was called upon by several clients to design the interiors of various rustic retreats. One was an incredible Adirondack style multi building island retreat in Northern Wisconsin. It had been constructed at the turn of the century, but had stood vacant for about ten years. Other projects were log and shingle style cabins on the North Shore of Northern Minnesota. These projects were prior to the “Lodge trend” that has now swept the country. Out of necessity I started researching and designing furniture and architectural details based on historic great camps, western retreats and northern Wisconsin and Minnesota cabins. I enjoyed this specialized style of design so much, I decided to pursue it a bit further. I left Dayton's Interior Design Studio in Minneapolis in 1995, and started my own design firm in Ely Minnesota, Bare Bones Studio specializing in this rustic style of interior design. I work with clients who seek comfort, beauty and solitude at the edge of pristine lakes and at the end of the road in remote forested areas. My service is tailored to each project and client. It can take you from the blue print stage through installation of furniture and art on the walls, or can be tailored to specific aspects of a project.
Bare Bones Studio is also the distributor for Old Hickory Furniture, Flat Rock Furniture, Genesee River Furniture, Wesley Hall, New West, Fireside Lodge, my own custom designed furniture and Kravet fabrics and furniture.
I have 35 years of experience in residential and commercial design
