About Me

ellenDuring my forty-five years as an interior designer, I have worked on a variety of projects that span a range of styles. I began my career at Dayton’s in Minneapolis where I was fortunate to be a part of two wonderful opportunities during that period. Through my affiliation with Peter Andrea Company, I was contracted to work with a builder to design and furnish homes for the Minneapolis Parade of Homes. I was also honored to be entrusted with a personal project for Bruce Dayton. Mr. Dayton is a collector of famous impressionist paintings and the French Ambassador was invited to his home to view these magnificent pieces. I was chosen to redesign and refurbish several rooms of his home in preparation of this visit.

In the early 90’s I was engaged by several clients to design the interiors of various log homes and cabins in Northern Minnesota and a Adirondack style family retreat on an island in Northern Wisconsin. Out of necessity I started researching and designing rustic natural furniture and architectural details based on historic great camps, western retreats and northern Wisconsin and Minnesota cabins. I enjoyed this specialized style of design and established Bare Bones Studio to meet the needs of people of the North Woods. My rustic approach to interior design is inspired by my love for the outdoors, the solitude of Northern Minnesota and my admiration for historic styles of architecture, Yellowstone National Park the Great Adirondack Camps and Thomas Molesworth’s Western Design style. I have traveled to all these places and have been fortunate to meet many of the artists, visit the camps and received a personal tour of a museum that houses collections of Thomas Molesworth’s furniture. My furniture designs employ some or all of these elements – they are artistic, organic, functional and sometimes whimsical.

My inspiration also comes from you! I am dedicated in my work and believe that every project is a true collaboration with each client’s tastes, lifestyles and budgets firmly in mind. My goal for every project is to make your living space a perfect reflection of you!
