Guest Cabin Progress

Hi Everyone,

You have probably been wondering what has happened since my blogs have not been very predictable.  Life just sometimes moves way too fast.  I have been involved in many projects over the summer that are now completed so I can catch my breath a bit.

The guest cabin progress is really moving along now, it is nice I just love it and could move in.  It is small in size but has everything one needs to live comfortably, relax and be close to nature.  It has a fabulous kitchen with Fisher Paykel appliances and custom cabinets that I designed. The bathroom has custom trout and pebble tiles on the shower floor and a farm sink in a rustic vanity, also my design. On the screen porch is the Rumford stone fireplace and a beautiful view of the lake!!  I am pleased with the blend of wood species selections and finishes.  There is enough contrast to make it interesting but not busy.  We used white cedar for the log work, paneling and cabinets and the flooring is a wide plank heart pine.

The fireplace is made of field stone with some special red stones that the client selected from the site.  They have been placed in key locations.  The hearth is four large field stones that have been cut to create the flat surface.  A rustic timber mantle will rest on the two stone ledges.

We are nearing completion on this project just in time before the weather changes from fall to winter.  My next post on this project will show the interior complete.  We will work on the furnishings in 2016.
