Burntside Lake Home - remodel
The clients contacted an architect, builder, and myself the interior designer when they were thinking about remodeling their lake home. They were stumped they had a beautiful piece of property with a typical 50s rambler. The house was well constructed but looked very out of place, and didnt even begin to take advantage of their incredible view. They also wanted a place more indicative of a northwoods retreat.
The architects solution was to create a new log post and beam addition that is the focal point of the house. The new addition is actually the entry and porch that is a part of the remodeled living room, dining area, kitchen , mud room, and garage.
My job was to work with the clients, architect, and builder to coordinate the interior materials, ie, floor coverings, stain colors, paint, wallpaper, counter tops etc. One of the first things to be done on this type of project is a layout of the areas to establish an electrical layout and material list. I also designed built-ins and a custom dining room table and game table. The game table also functions as an overflow dining table. The color palette and furniture pieces were based on favorite colors, room function and the traffic pattern.
This is a beautiful finished project. The result of a good client, architect, builder, designer team effort. This home was on the Bare Bones Studio 2000 Home Tour.
